You’re Gonna Love Maaaayyy

Yes, I know, it’s already 10 days in, but I could not resist.

Thanks to everyone who came to see us at Homeward Books on Indie Bookstore Day! We had a great time working with the folks there, and we might have some stuff lined up in the future! But for now, we’re going back to our semi-regularly scheduled business with another end-of-month pop-up at 4th & 4th.

Beach Reads Pop-Up

Looking for some compelling, swoony romance to tie you over on a trip to the beach or just by your local pool? We’ll have a smattering of everything to check out; historical, contemporary, romantasy, paranormal, tropey, action-packed, or no plot just vibes. Whatever mood you’re looking for, we can probably find it for you! We’ll also have our usual selection of stickers, tote bags, bookmarks, and other goodies, including some new ones you haven’t seen in our shop before! We’ve been pursuing partnerships with new creators and even making a few things ourselves, so come out and pick out some new stuff to put on your water bottle (which you better be carrying everywhere this summer!).

May is also an advocacy and awareness month for several categories in the disability and chronic illness community, so we’ll be highlighting books centering experiences in disability, chronic illness, mental illness, neurodivergence, and other things that make it harder to get through the world.

Looking for something particular? Reach out to us (you can reply to this email or send us a message on socials) with questions and thoughts about what you’d like to see us stock. And promise, the whole inventory will be online by the end of summer!

And if you’ve preordered a copy of Kennedy Ryan’s Score and opted to pick it up, this is where you’ll find us first!

See you there!

Still In Our Hockey Era

The Stanley Cup Playoffs are a million years long. The race to the end really does make you think about endurance, and how physically and emotionally exhausted Scott Hunter must have been by the time he said Fuck It and just wanted a hug from the love of his life.

Ahem. Anyway.

If you like to read On Them and want to check out a lesser known, incredibly delightful hockey romance, there’s one that’s been bouncing around amongst the Why Choose Founders!

Shoot Your Shot by Lexi LaFleur Brown

Much like last month’s rec, this one also starts with drinks all over clothes! Lucy keeps running into this handsome meathead and decides to spend the night with him, because he’s leaving town in the morning. So when she runs into him at a job painting a mural for the local hockey team, she calls shenanigans. Turns out he got called back from the airport to be on the team, and now he sees that Lucy is his lucky charm. Things spiral from there, but also check the content notes!

If you don’t want to wait until the pop-up to buy a copy of this one directly from us, you can still support us by getting it from Bookshop.org or Libro.fm! (These are affiliate links.)

Happy Mother’s Day, Shane Hollander

Sometimes we like to be incredibly silly, and that is threefold when it comes to Heated Rivalry stuff. For context, there is a work of fanfiction (honestly, there are probably several) in which a few team members start calling Shane “Mom”. Since today (May 10) is also his birthday, we figured we’d have a little fun over on Instagram.

See you soon, friends!

It’s wild out there, but we know with each other we can find places of comfort, joy, and revolution. Take care and happy reading.
